BLOODLINE by James Rollins

I only discovered Bloodline author James Rollins about a year ago, but I’ve devoured his Sigma Force novels (and a few non-Sigma) ever since. Bloodline – which is incidentally my 11th Rollins novel but my first review – was no exception. The thing about Rollins that I love is the way he integrates fact and fiction so that you can never be sure (unless you’ve really studied that area) what’s real and what he’s made up.

Commander Gray Pierce returns to duty after the death of his mother (killed by a Guild operative in a botched attempt on his life), recruiting an ex-army Ranger and his war dog Kane to join his team along with Kowalski and Seichan. Pierce and his team travel to the UAE and Africa to save the daughter of the American president in a kidnapping that’s clearly more than it appears on the surface.

Bloodline once again pits Sigma against their arch nemesis, the Guild in a tale about Templar Knights, genetic manipulation, the Oval Office, immortality, piracy, kidnapping, murder and intrigue guaranteed to entertain from the first page to the last. If you haven’t read a James Rollins novel before, Bloodline is a fantastic read, but I caution you that you’ll spoil a little of the mystery for yourself if you skip right to this one before reading at least some of the other Sigma Force novels first. You can see a full list of Rollins novels here.

As always, I want to hear your thoughts about the books and/or about the author, so be sure and leave a comment.

And that’s my 2¢ for today.
