Rookie Blue Season #2 Episode #3 – Bad Moon Rising

So have you been watching? In case you missed it, let me give you a quick recap. Oh and just a note to the writers: If you start killing off characters already I will be pissed. And I will absolutely not be alone. And a note to those who feared that the show might be cancelled, my sources tell me that the show was renewed last year quite quickly; after only a handful of episodes.

Episode Recap

McNally gets startled by a noise while at home alone at night – She retrieves her gun and goes to check it out – all clear

Back in the house McNally finds an engagement ring and then is startled by Luke coming home

She confronts him about the ring and the two get engaged

Traci is sleeping with Detective Jerry

At the station McNally shows off her ring; Jo recognizes it – turns out that he gave McNally a recycled ring that he once offered to her

Luke is shot by a crazy guy involved in McNally and Swarek’s heads-in-trunk case – they get him to the hospital and he makes it through surgery but of course he’s still critical

Outside the room Swarek and Jo are keeping vigil while the people they want in their lives (and their beds) are in another room

McNally is holding Luke’s hand and crying at the end of the episode

My question is this: Does she love him enough to get over being given Jo’s ring or will this be what drives her into Swarek’s arms? We’ll just have to wait and see but we both know that it’s going to get rockier for those two lovebirds before it gets better. That’s what makes for interesting, exciting, watchable summer TV and in the three episodes we’ve seen so far, Rookie Blue is certainly delivering.

As for my ongoing waffling between Luke and Swarek, Luke has inched ahead again for the way he looked at McNally right before he kissed her in the engagement scene at the top of the show. It may have been a recycled ring, and he may not have intended to propose to her at all at that stage in their relationship, but he does really seem to be in love with her. Maybe he could look at me like that? Just once and just as a test of his acting ability? No? OK.

And that’s my guilty pleasure 2¢ for today.
