Hawaii Five-O Season Finale

My mother was a fan of the original show – and incidentally this remake as well – and according to her, this is much more “action packed”. I’d say something more along the lines of explosive, get your adrenaline pumping, crime fighting fun; but no matter how you say it, there’s no denying that the Five-O reboot is entertaining. The season finale advert shows McGarrett arrested and Five-O disbanded. WTF? Oh, no to mention HPD is trying to lure Chin back by offering him a lieutenant’s position.

So here we go, the last episode of the season.

Do you remember the episode when Hess strapped a bomb around Chin’s neck and demanded $200k to disarm the bomb? The team ended up having to steal the money from an evident locker to ransom him. The money was burned but it’s suddenly turned up again. This is bad news.

Poor Kelly Hu, she’s had rotten luck ever since Nash Bridges. (A show from the 90s starring Don Johnson of Miami Vice fame.) This time her character Laura is the victim of a car bomb – at the hands of, if I’m not mistaken, Wo Fat. And that’s a win for me. We also discover that Laura is the one who has been sending items from Steve’s dad’s toolbox all this time. Do they really expect us to believe that she’s the one that had them stolen though?

So here’s the dirty rotten criminal’s plan for setting up a cop to take the rap for the murder of a government official – or officials:

Step 1 – buy claymores

Step 2 – kill government official

Step 3 – break into said official’s home and put McGarrett’s prints everywhere

Step 4 – step back and wait for McGarrett to put the pieces together

Step 5 – when he figures it out and comes to confront the governor (who as it turns out did order Laura’s death, did steal the evidence from McGarrett because that’s who dad was investigating, is in bed with the yakuza/Wo Fat), taser him and kill that person as well, thus framing him for two murders and make a clean getaway

Meanwhile, Danno’s ex and soon-to-be-again reveals that she’s pregnant with Danno’s second kid (they’ve been sleeping together for weeks) and they’re planning to return to New Jersey together. But with McGarrett’s arrest, what will he do: break a promise to the woman he loves or abandon his partner? Tough choice. He’s promised to meet them at the gate later that night to take a flight. We’ll see. Kono has been brought in for questioning regarding the theft of the money (which it is revealed the governor actually put back) and is positively identified in a line-up. She’s arrested. Chin, believing (I hope) that it’s the best way for him to help, has returned to HPD. He’s forced to arrest McGarrett. McGarrett and Kono see each other in HPD as they’re being processed, but neither can help the other.

With half the team branded criminals, one jumped ship to return to HPD and the final member torn between love and duty, this looks like the end of Five-O. But even without the “To be continued” fading on the screen, I’m already anticipated season two which I predict may even be more explosive and action packed than the first. See you in September.

That’s my 2¢ for today.

  1. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a excellent job with this. Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Safari. Exceptional Blog!

  2. Admiring the persistence you put into your site and detailed information you present. It’s great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed material. Fantastic read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
